World Veterans Federation

The World Veterans Federation (WVF), is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization which is independent from governments, non-political and non-sectarian. It does not discriminate on the basis of racial, ethnic, religious, gender or national identities, nor does it allow its members to do so. It is a federation of 170 veteran organizations from 93 countries representing some 42 million veterans worldwide. The Organization has its HQ in Paris and the president is Hamid Ibrahim from Malaysia.

 

The aims of the WVF are (from web page www.wvf-fmac.org):

  • To defend the spiritual and material interests of veterans and victims of war and their families by all available legal means.
  • To maintain international peace and security by the application to the letter and in spirit of the Charter of the United Nations and by respecting the human rights and fundamental freedoms set forth in the International Bill of Human Rights and other international instruments.
  • To promote the full integration of veterans and victims of war in their respective communities by providing appropriate rehabilitation and other relevant legislation and actions to overcome the physical and psycho-social consequences of armed conflict.
  • To further friendly relations among national as well as international organizations of veterans and victims of war.To encourage cooperation between national organizations and the exchange of expertise and experience in all fields of interest.
  • To promote and maintain the sacred duty of remembrance.

 

Swedish Veterans Federation – (SVF) is the organization that is Sweden's representative in World Veteran Federation (WVF).
